Overview
GDEP’s proposed Smart Port Pilot combines logistics expertise with IoT monitoring to improve visibility across freight truck parking and staging areas. The initiative aims to support better coordination, more efficient use of space, and smoother freight movements, establishing a practical foundation for broader port digitalization.
Challenges
Limited visibility into freight truck parking, staging areas, and vehicle movements can create congestion, extended waiting times, and inefficient use of port space. Coordinating trucks awaiting loading, unloading, or clearance requires timely information across logistics teams.
Approach
Prepare a connected monitoring pilot for a selected truck parking and freight staging area. Define operational zones, assess monitoring requirements, and plan a shared dashboard to support coordination. The proposed evaluation would cover parking utilization, waiting times, and traffic flow before considering wider deployment.
